Alpha Shift had just begun, and Lt. Chandler was already at work. Being the morning type, he always volunteered to take the early slots on the duty roster. Carrying a PADD, he was running down a checklist and taking readings from the ship's dilithium crystal reserves, making sure that they were properly charged and calibrated. A steaming cup of coffee sat on the top of the console, and he took a sip from it every so often as he worked. Ah, peace and quiet. This is why he enjoyed these shifts, before the main workforce arrived and Engineering got busy.

0613 in the fucking morning, what was he even doing awake? V'Uarr came through the Engineering doors, late, with a yawn. He slapped his paw on the entrance replicator, "Ko'vii, black... with cane sugar." He cracked his knuckles before grabbing the cup with a swipe, nearly spilling. "Okay! What've we got here today, crystals? Crystals are cool." V'Uarr gave the lieutenant a slap on the shoulder.

There was a pause in Zixx's work as she stiffens.
She WAS crouching in a tube, an open panel in front of her as she fixes up some crossed wiring.... but... that was a voice she didn't know! It was V'Uarr. She hadn't met him... yet. Imagine, when she finds out there are TWO people she didn't know.
To the other two, there was suddenly a pang of something dropped, and some sort of scrambling in the wall as a panel opens and out comes a blue face, eyes dashing around for the source of the voice.

Aaaaaaaand his peace and quiet was ruined. Ricky nearly dropped his PADD when V'Uarr slapped him on the shoulder. "Good morning to you too," he said flatly, then jumped when he heard the clang. "Jeez," he grumbled, turning to see Zixx peeking out of the tube. "I should have known that the peace wouldn't last."

V'Uarr's nails gripped into Ricky's shoulder and sliced through his shirt in surprise. "E-YAH!" BLUE SMALL PERSON. Coffee is dropped dramatically."Ancestors, give a cat a heart attack."

"...youaren'tacat." says the blue woman, her rear bobbling excitedly behind her in the tube as she then falls out into a crumple on the ground and then untangling herself near instantly. "Hello, NEW PEOPLE! TWO PEOPLE."

"Ow, shit!" Ricky swore in pain as he felt the claws rake across his shoulder. "Can you NOT- ?!" He bit his tongue as he held back his words, then took a deep breath and sighed. "I guess I need a new uniform," he said, craning his neck to see the rips in the fabric. "This will make a good story for the quartermaster. What happened to it? Oh, a Caitian fuckin' clawed me. Am I bleeding? I think I'm bleeding." He looked down at Zixx and blinked. "Hi."

"AAH!" she slaps at V'Uarr, not hard but enough to push him around. "Don't hurt others! Bad! Bad!" she huffs, clearly not okay with the bleeding.

A large frown grew across V'Uarr's face, pleasedon'ttellonhim. He can't risk a quarters sweep right now. "Ech, mate, I'm sorry!" He bent and inspected it delicately before being attacked by little hands. He pawed her off, "Justgivemeasecond." He went off around a corner, mumbling. "I'm sure I have a dermal regenerator around her somewhere..."

"I'm fine, it's just a scratch, don't worry about it," Ricky called after V'Uarr as he disappeared around the corner. "I'll go to medical later." He sighed again then looked at Zixx. "... What were you doing in the tubes?" he asked her.

"Fixin' stuff." she says, pointing to the color of her uniform, and rocking from her toes to her heels and back again. Looking WAY too interested in him.

Ricky raised an eyebrow, starting to feel uncomfortable under Zixx's gaze. "That's good," he said, looking back to his PADD for the next item on his list. "While you're here, mind checking the dilithium crystal housing chamber on bank number seven?" he asked her.

"Oh. ...okie...." she inches slowly toward the right panel and opens to tinker with one of the boxes containing his crystals. You have distracted her. .... for now.

"Thank you, Ensign," Ricky said, then tried to look over his shoulder again as he held his arm. He frowned at the scratches, although they didn't hurt too bad now. "You're... Zixx, right?" he asked, hoping that he got the name right.

V'Uarr rounded the corner and again Ricky is accosted, an instrument shoved nearly in his face. His attention isn't 100% on you, still half asleep yet. "I read the crew roaster, but I don't remember your face--I'm good with faces--are you new?"
