He takes it as a sort of meditative experience, floating, letting the water become a part of him. He almost smiles a bit.

He blinks up at her after a while, studying her expression. It's a very strange perspective from here.

She is grinning widely and warmly, she's proud of you, after all, she's talking, but it's really hard to hear from outside the water, and she's wiggling around you , she knows not to go too far, because you might need catching, but you have conquered floating! "Ready for more?" might be lip-read.

He gives a single nod because this is fascinating. The water feels good and so does the happiness. How odd that he has never met some one so...happy.

The hands are on his back. "Now try kicking a little! Gently gently!" She will move backwards as he kicks so he can test moving around.

They move around in a little circle, directed by the dolphin-type woman. "Oooh. You're swimming! Swimming!"

"Computer. One kickboard, please." she announces, as a little foam board appears and flops onto her bald head. "Oof! Ooh!" she goes to chase it down as it bounces into the water. "HERE!" she hands it out to him.

He takes it but studies it before trying to figure out what it is for.

It's squishy and smooth! "It's for floating on!" She takes it back for just a moment, puts it under her chest and demonstrates, kicking around in the water. First without her arms, then showing a basic freestyle stroke. She then offers it back.
