Eric Toppler sat with his legs hanging over the side of the sheer cliff face. A small river could be seen at the very bottom, carving the orange, red, and tan rock around it. The glittering blue was a stark contrast to the warm colors around it. Leaning back on his hands, the pink haired man sighed and breathed in the air of his home planet. Or a very good rendition of it. He liked to use the holodeck to explore the planet that was restricted to him. Spending most of his childhood in the basement of the lab, he would look out the small windows and wonder at the world outside. Now he could look and touch and feel everything.
The sun was low in the sky, almost a sunset. He had set the computer to keep it that way, he liked the orange clouds hovering just in front. It was indeed beautiful. He ran his fingers through the dusty clay under him, the sensitive nodes on his fingers and palm picking up information about the substance and density. He leaned back and allowed himself to lay, looking at the sky, and the various clouds drifting by. It was supposed to be the onset of the rainy season, when the sky would open up and the river would swell to three times it's normal size. Yellow flowers would bloom everywhere and the bright green flying insects would hover about, drinking their sweet nectar.
He closed his eyes and started to drift off.

T'Sai walked over to the holodeck she usually used, at her regular time, in her exercise wear. Black tank to her navel, wrists wrapped and black leggings. She was about to stroll in when the computer alerted her it was in use. Ugh, Zixx always takes this one. The Vulcan glanced at the panel and saw that it wasn't Zixx. She stared at it for a moment, telling herself she should just use a different one...
Curiosity took the better of her and she entered, slowly, not trying to disturb him should he be busy. It would be locked if it was personal, right? The doors opened and a dry air swept over her. The smell of regular, unfiltered atmosphere was a sweet refresher. It was easy to spot him, his pink hair sticking out like a sore thumb. She let out a sigh, knowing where there were. "I'm not interrupting, am I?"

Toppler opened his eyes when he heard the vulcan's voice. He sat up and turned to face her, "No, not really, just relaxing," he smiled a little at her and tried not to look her up and down, "Am I taking your exercise time?" he asked.

"I can do it later." She loosely waved her hand him. T'Sai walked over to peek at the edge before sitting down a couple feet from him, delicately putting her legs over the edge. Once seated she took a moment to take in her surroundings, enjoying new sights. "How have you been?"

"I'm," he paused and thought, "Okay," he told her. It was true, nothing seemed to be bothering him too badly. "Promise I wont let my heart have a sick day this time," he chuckled. "Have I ever told you about this?" He waved his hand around, gesturing to their surroundings.

"I will hold you to that." She gave him a look, please don't make her deal with that again. "I have been here once, but you haven't told me, no." Her fingers felt along the cliff's lip. T'Sai leaned over to watch the grit crumble and fall to the bottom, brown curls dropping over her shoulders. "But I am interested to hear."

"Well, it's not really anything surprising. Small group of colonists, empty planet, science....experiments," he coughed, looked at her, then continued, "It's usually quite dry here, but there is a rainy season for about three months, then everything blooms yellow and comes back to life for a month. Then it all dies again. Repeat. But the cliffs are beautiful, and on the other side of those mountains," he pointed to the mountains in the distance, "there is an ocean, I've never actually seen it though"

T'Sai looked at him when he coughed and caught his look, suspicious of what to make of it. She followed the direction he pointed, taking in and appreciating the reality the computers simulated. "Will you ever go back to view it?"

"Possibly, but there's nothing for me there now," he sighed, "I like looking and exploring when there's no one from back home here," he shrugged.

"You don't want to visit those you knew?" T'Sai raised an eyebrow at him. Usually one wanted to go back for just that reason. T'Sai was an exception, but no one asks about Vulcan. Everyone knows all they need to about Vulcans, yes? "What about your family?"

"I don't have family T'Sai, I'm the combined genetic material from three donors, and a scientist raised me in his basement. I got out once, and got a rock to the face. I didn't know I wasn't like other kids," he breathed in, he'd never really told anyone on the ship, "No siblings. Did you know I am supposed to be a redhead with green eyes? They fucked up when they modified my immune system and got my pigment wrong..."

The Vulcan stared at him for a moment, biting her tongue, before breaking her gaze and pulling a knee to her chest. "Would it be offensive if I said I didn't see anything wrong with you?" She shifted, unsure of how to word her... thoughts. "I see nothing 'fucked' with you." T'Sai shouldn't try swears, she's bad at them.

T'Sai's eyes lowered, "I understand entirely." She pulled a lock of air behind her pointed ear, thinking about a young pink hair boy. "I'm sorry, Eric, I didn't mean to bring up anything you didn't want to talk about."
